It’s funny you should say that mate – I’ve always gone for multiple defenders from the same team based on upcoming runs actually – last year I had a lot of joy from Finnan, Carragher and Reina, and then Gray and Kiznishvili. When Everton had their top 4 season I had Weir, Stubbs, and Hibbert and it worked out OK. I reckon it means some weeks with a lower score, but some weeks where you score big points.

If the defence looks good, they all do well (if they all get picked week in week out). Pompey could do really well I reckon with the new signings. Stefanovic is a brilliant shout if he plays every week.

One thing I was going to say also is that I don’t think I would ever have two players from the same team in defence. Big gamble if you ever do!!!

Do you guys think it’ll be Stefanovic then? Andy O’Brien is there aswell… it’s got to be worth the gamble – I like him as a player.

Duff is a maybe, as are a few of the names above (Bridge, for example), but will let it stew today and have a think about it.

Guardian Fantasy’s pundit said that stefanovic was cap but who knows.

- Like your picks Roy, taylor is also in my team. I’m taking a gamble on pompeys defence, even though they were miserable defencively last season. Will be keeping a keen eye on downing.

I reckon Stefanovic is a magic shout AussieJezza.

I’m gonna gamble on Hahnemann for the first five games in the goal (but then the run gets tricky…)

Then I reckon value-wyse, I’d add to your excellent list:
- Lua Lua
- Downing
- Gonzalez (although it’s not clear whether he’ll play regularly)
- Matty Taylor – same as Stefanovic but I reckon he’ll get forward a lot more this season, especially if they do manage to sign Manuel Fernandes or another decent digger in front of the centre halves).
- Gary O’Neill – as above
- Camara – I don’t think they’ll miss Bullard and Roberts as much as some pundits are saying

It’s hard to say though eh?

Is Henry worth 14m as captain? I reckon he is even at that price actually.
