Holidays! September 17, 2006
Posted by Ed in : fantasy footy , trackbackWell I’m off for a well earned rest in the Mediterranean
I made my change for the next game week already, I brought in Scharner for Wayne Bridge.
I doubt Bridge will get much first team football while Ashley Cole is fit, so I took my £0.2million profit(after the 50% sell on tax) and hope to make a couple of quid on Scharner. He has always been a goal scoring threat and plays in midfield alot too. If he can follow up this weekends brace with another solid performance, he will rise in value nicely I think.
Players to buy
Andy Johnson Just keeps putting them away, he looks a good candidate for captain too!
Tim Cahill Solid as ever another assist today, buy him while he is still reasonably cheap
Glen Johnson I have been watching him over the last couple of weeks and he looks like he is begining to fufill his promise at right back.
Kevin Doyle Scored again today, looks really comfortable in the premiership, could go on to great things this season.
Richard Dunne Has played brilliantly this season so far and Man City have a managable set of fixtures coming up, worth a punt!
Well thats all I have time for, i’m off to sit on a beach for a week!
I’m sure you can last for a week without me, can’t you? ![]()

Morning Ed - the changes worked out pretty well eh?
I think Scharner’s a great shout for Bridge actually. I’ve opted for Taylor from Boro, because it looks like Mr Woodgate, in tandem with Mr Southgate, is getting Boro’s defensive headaches sorted out. I’d have bought Woodgate himself, as he’s chalking up bonuses in a Sol Campbell stylee, but I didn’t have enough free cash available and I didn’t want to spend any more on transfers.
Boro, like Wigan, have a nice run of games coming up (although Wigan have two games in hand - Scharner is a great shout with that in mind I reckon - nice work dude!). You could also argue that they were unlucky to concede against Reading and Pompey, so clean sheets might be just around the corner eh?
Have a great time on your hols mate.
nice explaination here. With the Latics against Watford Scharner might even score a clean sheet. Really a safe bet. But for long term concern maybe I will try on Arsenal defense. They have easy opponents in coming 4 or 5 games. A good chance for them to catch up the leaders.
For one week shot Mellberg and Boro defense is also good consideration.
I’m almost sure to offload Bridge. Only I am not going to earn any value from the sale. So I will take my time to pick a good defender (before the price rise too!!)
Happy Holiday to u!
Does anyone have an opinion on Naysmith from Everton? I bought him thinking that everton would keep a few clean sheets, however it seems he isn’t playing full minuites.
Also, I haven’t been able to watch an Arsenal game yet, and am thinking of buying one of their midfeilders. Has fabregas been shooting/playing well? or am I better off with someone else.
Hi Jezza
Gary Naysmith is good if he plays full games, because he gets forward, shoots, and crosses. It all depends on how tight they are as a unit I guess. Is he only getting in the side because of injuries?
For me, Fulham (after this week), Boro, Arsenal and Chelsea have the nicest run of games coming up for clean sheet potential…
Gallas and Eboue will go up big this week I reckon gents… Terry has a back knock and there’s no guarantee he’ll be back next week (he should do, but you never know) so I’ve swapped in Gallas for Terry - both sides have good runs of games and look good for clean sheets, but Gallas will rise this week. I’ve lost 0.2 on Terry but Arsenal have two games in hand already (one of them’s already scheduled for gameweek 17 - the week they play Chelsea - against Wigan).
The stats look pretty good for both players, and for Djourou.
